Installation and commissioning of the Orga illuminated Circle-X system.

Our client’s request

As Australia’s first dedicated cardiac hospital, which provides tailored cardiovascular care for all Victorians, and specialized life-saving procedures, safety during emergency helicopter procedures was of the essence.

When every second counts in life threatening conditions, quick and subtle landings are needed to provide aid to the client as fast as possible.

The challenge

• Though one of the first Circle-X systems in the world, our team has been collaborating with all stakeholders throughout the entire project design, installation and commissioning phase
• cable penetration (location on-site) no fixed position on paper , installer with Orga supervision to decide which optimal position to utlilize.
• Hot Summer weather during installation period , installation team started earlier at daybreak (630am) and ending earlier in the day (2 to 3pm)

Orga’s solution 

Because we know the challenges and tight schedules on offshore helidecks, Orga’s Circle-X system is designed to be installed and serviced in as little time as possible. All parts of the Circle-X are modular and can be laid-out, installed and connected quickly.

Installment of the Circle-X system was done in phases, always leaving untouched, or finished areas of the deck for the helicopter to touch down or take-off.

This makes the installation methodology safe for both new-build helipads as helipads looking for an upgrade of their lighting system including a Circle-X.

• Our product designed has been reviewed and approved by UKCAAI, in accordance wih CAP1264 Standards for helicopter landing areas at hospitals.
• The Circle-X system was successfully installed in less than a week.
• The Victoria Heart Hospital helipad has now has a fully operational and compliant Circle-X system, and used as a “good-practice model” for new hospital helipad design and with great feedback from Ambulance Victoria Helicopter pilot
