The helideck lighting system

The CAA (UK) recommendations (CAP437 - Standards for Offshore Helicopter Landing Areas) are required to be followed for the safe marking of offshore helidecks in the UK and other countries following these recommendations.

Orga has a long history of helping the UK Civil Aviation Authority (UK CAA) to develop CAP437 regulations for offshore helideck lighting systems. Previous projects include Touchdown/Position Marking (TD/PM) Circle-H lighting, helideck status and perimeter light systems.

To further improve helideck safety, Orga continues to work on new trials for Helideck Monitoring Systems with the UK CAA to ensure that our helideck lighting product range keeps on meeting the demanding requirements of your regulators, clients and environmental conditions.

TD/PM Circle-H Lighting

The Orga Touchdown/Positioning Marking Circle and Heliport Identification Marking ‘H’ LED lighting system (TD/PM Circle-H) provides the helicopter pilot with the best possible visual cues during approach and landing at night and in all weather conditions.

Pilots report smoother and more controlled landings with the Orga TD/PM Circle-H LED lighting system. By installing Circle-H, you will have a robust and reliable low profile lighting system which eliminates the dangerous and disorienting ‘black-hole’ effect that previously challenged pilots, making every landing much more safer.

Low profile (<25mm) lightweight flexible metal plates enable direct mounting on the helideck for easy installation. Designed to meet the demanding requirements of the offshore environment and reduce your energy and maintenance costs, the Orga TD/PM Circle also incorporates innovative optic technology and robust corrosion resistant stainless steel fittings to meet your regulatory requirements for ICAO and CAP437.

Helideck status light

For extreme environments, the Orga LED Helideck Status Light warns the helicopter pilot from landing on your installation during unsafe conditions.

With a unique low profile (<250mm) design, the light can be mounted directly on the helideck for easy installation. Fully automatic, the light is controlled by a control panel that interfaces with your platform’s fire and gas detection system.

The light has very low power consumption and incorporates long life LED technology and robust stainless steel mounting material to give you long maintenance intervals and reduce whole-life costs.

The Orga Helideck Status Light is specifically designed to meet your ICAO, CAP437 and IMO regulatory requirements.

Helideck perimeter light

The Orga explosion proof LED Perimeter Lights help the helicopter pilot locate the helideck on your installation by providing a good colour contrast throughout approach and landing at night and in poor visibility conditions.

Crucially, by mounting the lights – at equally spaced intervals of not more than three metres around the perimeter of the safe landing area – you give the largest and first visual cue that the pilot will see during the approach.

By using the very latest LED technology and materials, our lights have low power consumption not exceeding 4W, a long lamp life of 100,000 hours and robust corrosion resistant stainless steel fittings.

Recessed perimeter light

The Orga recessed explosion proof LED Perimeter Lights mark and illuminate the inboard edge of the landing area where there is a need to move a helicopter or large equipment off the helicopter deck.

Illuminated windsock

The Orga LED internally Illuminated Windsock gives the helicopter pilot a highly visible indication of wind-speed and direction during landing and take-off in all weather and light conditions.

The first LED internally illuminated windsock to prevent glare and feature smart integrated aviation obstruction light (AOL) capability, Orga’s explosion proof windsock complies with ICAO and CAP437 regulations.

With an intelligent design that removes the need for a complex and maintenance intensive electrical slip ring unit, high-grade stainless steel fittings with cutting-edge components give you a windsock with the longest possible operating life.

Digital Central Control Panel

The Orga Digital Central Control Panel (D-CCP) sits at the heart of our modular Helideck Lighting, Navaids, Obstruction Lighting and Remote Solar and UPS Power Supply systems.

Modules can be easily added, as and when you require, to operate and control all Orga signalling equipment and to communicate with your platform control system in both analogue and digital mode.

The D-CCP can be supplied in an industrial safe area cabinet or in an ATEX/IEC Ex-certified panel, bringing enhanced functionality to any hazardous and isolated location by providing you with full alarm, history and remote status monitoring capabilities.

Glove-friendly cutting-edge multi-touch capacitive touchscreen technology gives you a fast and intuitive interface. Critical information can be rapidly viewed, accurately analysed and then immediately actioned from one central location for the safe and efficient control of your operations.
