From 1 July 2021 wind turbines in Germany will have to comply with the BNK (“Bedarfgesteuerte Nachtkennzeichnung”) regulation. A BNK system, also known as Aircraft Detection Lighting System (ADLS), in combination with Orga’s obstruction lighting system ensures that the obstruction lights are only switched on when an aircraft is in the proximity of the wind farm at night. This ensures safety, whilst reducing light pollution for people living in the surroundings at the same time. As mentioned in above text, wind turbines in Germany will have to be equipped with a BNK system so that obstruction lights are only switched on at night when an aircraft is in the proximity of the wind farm.
